Johnson Matthey Technology Review publishes articles, reviews and short reports on sustainable technology solutions, transforming energy and reducing carbon emissions, for a cleaner, brighter, future.
Articles, reviews and short reports will be considered on:
Advanced metals chemistry
The platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), ruthenium (Ru), rhodium (Rh), iridium (Ir), osmium (Os)
- PGM chemistry: PGM chemistry, pyro- and hydrometallurgy
- PGM properties: properties of PGMs such as durability, high-temperature / corrosion resistivity and catalytic performance contributing to their industrial use
- Advanced characterisation: understanding materials performance down to the atomic scale
- PGM applications: application of PGMs in the automotive, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, glass-making and other industries
- Circularity: recycling, refining and sustainable supply of the PGMs; including life cycle assessment.
Catalysis, adsorption and sensing
PGM and non-PGM catalysis, adsorption and sensing in the following application areas
- Industrial catalysis: development and manufacture of catalysts for the automotive, energy and chemical industries
- Heterogenous catalysis: for emissions control, hydrogen electrolysis, fuel cells, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and production of sustainable fuels
- Homogenous catalysis: for the chemicals industry, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), plastics, rubbers and adhesives
- Biocatalysis: for the pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals industries
- Computational modelling: application of computational modelling and artificial intelligence to accelerate catalyst discovery
- Surface chemistry: understanding surface chemistry interactions between the catalyst and support
- Catalytic coatings: fuel cell catalyst coatings, membranes, performance optimisation
Process engineering
Aspects of manufacturing science and process optimisation in the following areas
- Chemical processes: process technologies to produce sustainable fuels and chemicals
- Process development: process chemistry and engineering, design, implementation and optimisation of chemicals processes, improving efficiency, quality, sustainability, safety and reducing cost
- Computational modelling: computer models for the study of chemical reactions and production processes
- Metallurgy and material science: for industrial equipment and processes
- Automation and digitalisation: of process chemistry and operations
