For hydrogenation the preferred catalyst is Pt or Pd.

The contact metals are preferably formed of noble metals, such as Ag, Pt, Pd or Au.

A thin resistance layer is produced on a nonconducting base layer from a cermet composition. This contains 50−95 wt.% glass and 5−50 wt.% of a Ru-Rh alloy, such as a 1:1 alloy (by weight).
